The Cork 1720 is built with a fractional rig. The sail area for the mailsail + jib is 34.9 m2 (375.9 ft2). A fractional rig has smaller headsails which make tacking easier,

- additional Sobstad main, no 2 jib, medium reaching kite and small heavy wind kite.
